No, You're Not Losing Your Mind. 5 Ways Our Loved Ones Show Us Signs
But - don't panic if they haven't shown up yet!
In probably 95% of the readings I do, people are afraid they are either not getting signs from their loved ones, or they’re afraid they’re missing the signs. I have two answers for that:
Even if you aren’t seeing signs, you aren’t doing anything wrong, and your loved one HAS NOT abandoned you. It just takes time (sometimes even a year or more).
Signs are usually extremely obvious. So obvious that we question whether it is a coincidence.
Signs don’t usually show up for awhile, but as time goes on, those signs are everywhere from our loved ones.
I used to say to myself: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m just making this up in my head.
They can’t REALLY be showing themselves to me.
I must be going crazy.
We are not going crazy. They are sending us signs. We just need to stop questioning them and doubting our senses.
These are the top ways I have seen people (and animals!) send us signs that they are around:
Objects Moving or Appearing – Objects that were meaningful to our loved one or that belonged to them may move or appear in places where they weren’t before. This could be a piece of jewelry, a book, a photograph, or any other object that was special to them. My late husband thinks its funny to show himself with random fish hooks in bags. Ouch! 😜
Song Lyrics - If you hear a song, and you think it’s talking to you - it probably is. One time I was in Starbucks feeling desperate to hear from my late husband. All of a sudden the first dance song from our wedding started playing! It is a very obscure song from the 1930’s, so I was in total shock!
Scents – Sometimes, we may suddenly smell a scent that reminds us of our loved one. It could be their favorite cologne or perfume, the smell of their cooking, the smell of them smoking, or even the smell of fresh flowers. These scents are definitely sign that they are with us. My old neighbor and great friend Modrika shows herself when I smell tobacco and *need* chocolate chip cookies.
Synchronicities. – We may also experience meaningful coincidences that seem to be more than just chance. For example, we may see a number that was meaningful to our loved one or hear a song that we both shared a connection to. Whenever I am supposed to be wary of a situation I see the number 431 - which was my late husband’s badge number. These synchronicities are signs that our loved one is still with us, and a lot of the time they happen in such blatant ways that it makes me laugh.
Feeling Their Presence – Lastly, we might simply feel them with us. We may sense that they are around us or feel their love and support. This is a powerful way that our loved ones can let us know that they are still with us in spirit. It can be a physical reminder (like pressure on our ring finger) - or just a “knowing” that they are there.
There is a 6th way that they *sometimes* show up, but this one is a little different.
6. Dreams – Our loved ones can appear in our dreams to tell us they are still around. When we wake up, we often feel a sense of comfort and peace that our loved one is still with us, even in spirit.
This is where the difference is that I explain to anyone I am doing readings for:
If your loved one comes to you in a nightmare or they are yelling at you in your dreams - that is your subconscious!! They are not mad at you at all. I cannot stress this enough. Your subconscious is creating these dreams. These are not a sign your deceased loved one is unhappy with you.
What if you aren’t seeing anything yet?
This is not unusual at the beginning of grief.
Our brains need to process the loss, and your loved one needs to process and get used to their new existence. Remember, they really are with you, BUT it takes time for both of you to get used to this new relationship and new way of communicating. Don’t panic. They have not abandoned you.
Be mindful and open to the possibility of receiving signs from our loved ones - they are there. Your loved ones will communicate when both of you are ready.

for me it's the time 11:11 or 1:11 Every since my Mom died back in 1979 (I was 17), I've found myself glancing at the clock multiple times a week and frequently the time will be either 11:11 or 1:11. It happens too often to be a coincidence. I know it's my Mom checking in and sending a greeting. Different clocks at different places and I don't think about it ahead of time (ie.. it's getting close to that time so let me look at the clock). I love that connection.
